Welcome to the World of Dance!
Our “Teacher Feature” this month is Ms. Alexys Herrera! Known as Ms. Lexy to her students, Ms. Lexy is originally from Kansas. She moved to Spring in 2011, she is a Klein Oak High School graduate and one of our own Progression Elite Dance Company alumnae. She served in the prestigious role of Houston Texans Cheerleader while in college and showed that dance skills can transfer to so many different areas. She received her bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from the University of Houston.
Ms. Lexy teaches Tumbling, Strength and Conditioning and Jazz/Tap. She has also served as the Progression Elite Dance Company Assistant since 2018. She loves combining her degree in Exercise Science Kinesiology and her National Academy of Sport Medicine education to create the strength and conditioning program and the dance-based tumbling program here at PPA.
Her favorite genres of dance to choreograph are lyrical, musical theatre jazz and acro/open. Choreography can be seen on the competition, convention an drill team circuits.
Ms. Lexy is really excited for competition season to start especially since it was postposed last year due to the pandemic. One of her favorite parts about teaching is seeing her students work so hard and accomplish new skills. She loves getting to combine her degree with her passion for dance to create strong dancers and keep them safe! Thank you for teaching with us Ms. Lexy!
